Jane M. Eden

July 20, 1929 – September 18, 2019

“The most glamorous mom in the world” someone once said of Jane M. Eden, who passed away at the age of 90, September 18, 2019 in Santa Clara, New Mexico. She was born in Kearny, New Jersey and grew up in the western New York town of Fredonia, graduating from Fredonia High School. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design and modeled for a time in New York City.

In 1949, she married Richard H. Eden (Dick) of Dunkirk, New York. Her two children from that marriage, Rick Eden and Candace Eden Robb, survive her, along with her two grandchildren, Clayton Henry Robb and Anna Eden Robb.

The Eden family moved to Arizona in 1965, living at first in Tucson and then Scottsdale. Jane was active in the Heard Museum Guild in Phoenix and later worked for Journey Associates in Mesa as a tour guide. Her broad knowledge of Arizona’s history and culture contributed to her success in tours around the state.

Jane enjoyed traveling, coordinating family vacations around the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In her later years, as a tour guide, she traveled internationally as well. She was a history buff, enjoyed arts and crafts, and participated in political events. She was courageous and feisty as she pursued her independent path.

Jane retired to Tyrone, New Mexico in 1998.

Donations in Jane’s name can be made to the Heard Museum at (click on “Support”) or by mail (2301 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004). The Heard Museum, founded in 1929, is an organization dedicated to advancing American Indian Art and native cultures, housing internationally recognized art collections. The museum also offers educational programs to present the history and development of the Native American people.

Jane will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
