James L. Wallace

January 13, 1940 ~ April 20, 2020 (age 80)



James L Wallace 80 of Silver City, NM passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held later. Cremation under the direction of Bright Funeral Home.

Jim was born in Los Angeles, California January 13, 1940. He grew up in the Sierra Foothills and attended high school in Hemet, California. As a young man he worked on the famous Garner Ranch.

Jim married Sally and they had a son, Mitchell in 1963. After their divorce, Jim worked for his stepfather in water development. Jim was drafted into the army at the height of the Vietnam War, but was discharged in 1967 due to an injury. On Valentine’s Day 1968 Jim met and later married his wife Shirley. They lived in Yucca Valley until 1986. They had worked and saved enough to buy their own ranch in Jay, Oklahoma. Due to age and injury they sold their dream home and moved to Silver City, New Mexico in 2000. Jim loved his country his family and horses. Jim is survived by his wife Shirley, son Mitchell, daughter Sarah, son Eric, three grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Loved by all, he will be so missed
