Fannie Mayrice Cole

Former Silver City resident Fannie Mayrice Cole, 83 passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 11, 2020 in Marion, IA.

She was born November 6, 1937, in Albuquerque, NM to Clarence and Oleta Steele and lived in Mountainair, NM until her family moved to Hurley, NM in 1954 during her senior year of high school. She graduated from Cobre High School in 1955.  She met and started dating Thomas L. Cole in 1957 after she returned from living and working in Washington DC for a brief time.  They were married in Silver City, NM on March 7, 1958.

She and Tom raised their 2 sons, Glen and Ross in Silver City.  She was a homemaker and treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved to make cards for her family and friends, handmade Christmas ornaments for all the grandkids and enjoyed various other crafts.  After Tom retired they spent lots of time camping and fishing and they experienced some long adventures in their RV. She was an avid reader and took much delight in watching the birds, squirrels and deer outside her window in recent years.

Over the years, she also enjoyed working on genealogy for her church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family and had a deep abiding love and faith in her Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Mayrice is survived by her son Ross and his wife Lee Ann of Marion, IA; daughter-in-law Gay Cole of Virden, NM; grandchildren, Amanda Larson (Jason), Tanya Cole, Levi (Ashley) Cole, Jake Cole and Zack Cole; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Travis, Kaela, Bailey, Jace, Corbin and Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Glen and her brother Eldon Steele.

A memorial will be held in Silver City at a later date. Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, " A Loving and Caring Place to Celebrate, Honor, and
