Obituary

 

Esperanza “Chacha” G. Sosaya, 79 passed away January, 28, 2021 at Gila Regional Medical Center.  A Private burial will be held at a later date. Born February 6, 1941 to the late Miguel and Bruna Garcia of Santa Rita, NM. Mrs. Sosaya is survived by her husband, Richard Sosaya of 53 yrs., of the family home. A son Richard Sosaya Jr. and a daughter Debra Sosaya-Nevarez (Joe) of Silver City. She is also survived by her brothers Santiago (Maria) Garcia, Manuel (Terry) Garcia of Bayard, sisters Mary Marin and Carmen Garcia both from Bayard, sisters-in-law Magdalena Garcia and Consuelo Garcia.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Special sisters-in-law Patti Topete(Jesus), Rosie Geffs for California, Rita Sosaya from Washington, brothers -in-law Robert Sosaya (Patsy), Johnny Sosaya (Lucy), Mariano Sosaya and Alex Sosaya (Natalia) and goddaughter Isabel Varela.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ramon, Miguel, Jose, Juan, and Florencio Garcia, and five infant siblings.  Her hobbies were watching game shows, soap operas, loved music, played loteria with her family and friends, and was a great cook. Her children always looked forward to her home-made tortillas.  She also enjoyed the outdoors such as camping.  Esperanza was a student at Cobre High School and graduated in the eighth grade.   She dedicated herself to caring for her siblings after her mother passed away.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, “A Loving and Caring Place to Celebrate, Honor, and Remember a Life Lived,” 210 W.
