Billy Jack Howard, “also known as Bill and Jack throughout his years”, 87 of Silver City, New Mexico passed away May 08, 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on April 01, 1933 to Charles Newton and Sophie Howard in a motel room in Amarillo, Texas. Billy grew up during the depression and WWII in Texas working with his family to survive. He joined the Air Force from November 1950 to December 1954 and served in the Korean War. During this time, he met and married Martha Jane (Conder) Howard until she passed in July 2005. After the military, he worked at various jobs for the next few years until getting a job with the state hospital in Porterville, California. He later became a ranger for the California Department of Parks and Recreation and then changed to the maintenance department. He retired as a Maintenance Chief II in October 1993. Billy loved to hunt and fish. He was a 32nd-degree AFAM Mason, a Shriner, and a member of Order of Eastern Star, B.P.O.E. Elks, American Legion, and VFW. Billy met and remarried Ginger Grissom on December 30th, 2006. He is survived by his spouse Ginger Howard; his older brother Charles Howard and wife Betty; his younger sister Shirley Searcy; his oldest daughter Kathryn Henry and husband Joe; his son Charles Howard and his wife Elaine; and youngest daughter Shirley Pickens and husband Frank; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
