Janet Susan (Cohen) Colville

1944 ~ 2018 (age 74)

Born and raised in the NYC area Janet went to Denver in 1961 to attend the University of Denver, receiving her Bachelor in Arts Degree in 1965 in Dramatic Literature and Criticism. After eloping with her soul mate Bill Colville on Oct 14, 1965 in NYC, they moved to Denver briefly before settling in Evergreen as the place to raise their family. In 1995 they retired to southern New Mexico. Believing in child literacy, they volunteered at local schools to help young children in the area.  Upon Bill’s death in 2004 Janet returned to Denver and her beloved Colorado. In 2017 she moved to Silver City, New Mexico.

Janet worked as a bookkeeper most of her working life, though her favorite job was helping friends deliver firewood. In the early 1980’s, owning the Pine Needle Knit Shoppe with model kits in the back, on main street in Evergreen, she taught the art of needle craft. Janet loved to travel. Besides traveling abroad, she drove all over North America which included annual trips to Yellowstone to see her beloved wolves. In later years she learned how to weave which became her passion, tho’ she was able to let loose drag racing at Bandimere Speedway.

Janet is survived by her daughters Rebecca Renaud (Jeff) and Elizabeth Colville, grandson Ezra Renaud, her sister Toby Reisman (Bob), nieces and nephews Larry Reisman, Shari Reisman, Sherman Phillips and Dorothy Phillips, and many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 15, 2018 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm , at her home on Cactus Street in Silver City and sometime during summer 2019 in Colorado.
