Angelita Valenzuela Ortiz 87, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. A Rosary will be recited at Santa Clara Catholic Church on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00am, a Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will follow the mass at the Santa Clara Cemetery. She was born May 10, 1932 in Hurley, New Mexico to Ascencion Valenzuela and Rita Trujillo Valenzuela. Angelita was 13 years old when she lost her mother. She took care of her father and younger sister (Erlinda Moya-Albuquerque) while tending to the home and going to school. In August 1950 she ran for queen of the Santa Clara Church. Angelita married Trinidad Sandoval Ortiz, the love of her life, on October 4, 1950 and built their lives in Central (Santa Clara). Throughout her years she was proud to care for many ailing individuals. She loved to cook tacos, tamales and chile for family gatherings and enjoyed painting, tending to her vegetable garden, flowers and roses. She held in her heart the time spent raising her grandchildren – Beaver, Danny, Michelle, Trini, Mikey. Angelita held her heart for two special nieces Sofia Castillo (Silver City) and Diana Gutierrez (Albuquerque) which she considered her daughters. She is survived by two daughters Rita Jane Garcia of Bayard, Margie Aguilar (Louie) of Silver City and son Michael Ortiz (Bertha) of Santa Clara, fourteen grandchildren – Louie (Beaver) Aguilar (Alicia) of Limon, Colorado, Danny Ortiz (Kristina Ortiz) of Santa Clara, Michelle Ortiz (Wadrain Wallace) of El Paso, TX, Angela Tafoya (Joe) of Silver City, Trini Ortiz (Angela) of Santa Clara, Mikey Ortiz of Santa Clara, Amando Ortiz (Tanya) of Bayard, Yvette Barraza (Danny) of Douglas, AZ, Randi Bustamante of Silver City, Eric Ortiz (Lori) of Santa Clara, Paul Garcia (April Cook) of Hurley, Arlene Ortiz of Santa Clara, Shawn Bustamante (Ann) of Arenas Valley and Felisha Ortiz (Mathew Pena) of Hurley, 40 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by her parents, son Paul Ortiz, her husband Trinidad of 52 years and many brothers. Pallbearers will be Louie “Beaver” Aguilar, Danny Ortiz, Trini Ortiz, Mikey Ortiz, Amando Ortiz, Eric Ortiz, Paul Garcia and Danny “DJ” Ortiz Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are her many granddaughters and grandsons and those that considered her their grandmother.
