Alejandra G. Bencomo passed away quietly, surrounded by her loving family on November 26, 2018. Alejandra was born in Pinos Altos New Mexico on August 4, 1927 to parents Agapito Garcia and Adelida Aragon Garcia. Alejandra lived in Pinos Altos until she met her future husband Felipe Q. Bencomo after he returned from WWII. Felipe and Alejandra settled in Santa Rita New Mexico where they began their family and later relocated to Silver City after a house fire and the impending demolition of the Town of Santa Rita. Felipe and Alejandra settled in their home on Cheyenne St. where she was a sometimes stem at other times mischievous but always a loving presence to her family. On Cheyenne St., Alejandra would bake galletas (bisquits) and empanadas in her wood stove with ingredients sometimes found growing wild in the yard and at her home where Alejandra would receive the news on the unexpected death of her husband Felipe. Alejandra remained content in her home, her favorite place, through tough times and good times, until her final days. Alejandra was preceded by her husband Felipe Q. Bencomo; sisters Leonora Trujillo and Benina Castillo; daughters-in-laws Mary G. Bencomo and Nancy Bencomo and grandson Charles Bencomo. Alejandra is survived by her children Victor Bencomo (Mary Lou), Felix Bencomo, Samuel G. Bencomo, Angelina Bencomo, Felipe Bencomo Jr., Lupita Vega (Eugene) and 17 Grandchildren and their families. Pallbearers are Samuel Bencomo Jr., Victor Bencomo Jr., Phillip Bencomo, Felipe Q. Bencomo II, Victoria Bachman, and Michael Contreras. Viewing will be held on November 29, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. with a Rosary lead by Deacon Bill Holguin at 4:30 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home Chapel. Mass at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on Friday November 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. followed by the burial at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Gathering at CYO on Market Street following the services.
